It is often said that Brazil's national colors, green, yellow and blue, represent the country's natural richness. Green represents the exuberant forests of the Amazon Rainforest, the Atlantic Jungle, and the Pantanal, the yellow rhombus represents the country's gold reserves and natural resources while the blue represents the sky of rio de janeiro on the night of Nov. 15th 1889
The stars represent the Brazilian states and the white strip contains the inscription Ordem e Progresso, meaning Order and Progress.
The phrase is attributed to the French positivist philosopher Augusto Comte Brazil

The Federative Republic of Brazil (República Federativa do Brasil Portuguese) is the largest and most populous country in Latin America, and fifth largest in the world.

Brazil is home to both extensive agricultural lands and rain forests and was named after brazilwood, a tree highly valued by early colonists. Exploiting vast natural resources and a large labor pool, it is today South America's leading economic power and a regional leader. As a former colony of Portugal, Portuguese is its official language.
