Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest
in the world. It borders on all but two countries in South America
and offers the world’s highest levels of animal and plant
biodiversity. Its complex blend of people, landscapes and cultural
tradition is a world unto itself
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful
cities in the world and known to Brazilians as the "Cidade
Maravilhosa". Although Rio is famous for its festive atmosphere,
it is also headquarters to some of Brazil's largest national and
multinational companies. The city lies between Guanabara Bay, the
legendary beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon, and tropical
rain forests of Rio’s surrounding mountains.
Sao Paulo is the biggest city in South America and one of the three largest in the world (currently second1). Sao Paulo is considered one of Latin America's most important industrial and financial centers. It is the industrial center of Brazil, responsible for over 30% of Brazil's annual GNP and headquarters to the majority of Brazilian and multinational corporations. Strong industrial development and cultural diversity have provided Sao Paulo with the largest, most cultured and educated middle class in Brazil. Sao Paulo can be an intimidating place, but if you like big cities, there are few other's that match its dynamics, international setting, culture and nightlife.
Maceio is the capital of the state of Alagoas, in northeastern Brazil, with a population of approximately 325,000 people. Situated below low bluffs between the Atlantic Ocean and the Norte (or Mundaú) Lagoon. Maceio has a vibrant outdoor market of local crafts ranging from dresses and t-shirts to handmade jewelry and hammocks. The city also offers a number of bars and discotheques, both on the beach and in the city, with live or recorded Brazilian music. The city also offers a number of famous street parties such as Maceio Fest (an out-of-season carnival in November) and, of course, the traditional Carnival in February.
