Selection criteria: The museums listed include only museums with fine arts from past periods, movements, historical artifacts and items, indigenous, ethnic and foreign cultures. What will not be shown are local modern art galleries, historical sites, monuments, ecological or sculpture gardens, estates or mansions of past famous people (unless it's officially designated as a museum), spanish missions, churches, science or nature centers, planetariums, children's science centers or museums, music, musicians, or any current political, religious and social causes. Any museums dedicated to individuals would have to be pivotal figures from past decades and at the editor's discretion.
